Sub@omic takes a consultative approach to the design and development of websites. The process of building a cognitive web site has been broken down by Sub@omic into 15 simple steps. We trust and believe in our process and have modeled our entire business around these web design process steps so it is, we believe, this approach to our work that sets us apart from every other web design company that you may previously encountered.
Step One - Discovery
Firstly you'll be sent a simple questionnaire to consider and complete. Answering the questions will help you focus upon exactly what it is you want your website to do and your answers will give a clear indication of your requirements upon which a reasonable price estimate can be based.
Step Two - Engagement
If your estimate is acceptable an initial meeting is arranged and we discuss your business objectives, once we've explored all angles Sub@omic will write a comprehensive costed proposal and supply you with our full terms and conditions of business. If you wish to proceed, simply return a pro-forma invoice for 10% of the project along with a signed copy of our terms.
Step Three - Modeling
Key to Sub@omic's approach to cognitive web design is our focus on the requirements of the end user of the website. UX modelling helps Sub@omic understand what the website needs to do.
Step Four - Mapping
Our UX web design focus then shifts to the physical structure of the website and we produce a sitemap that illustrates what components will be required. If this UX focus changes the specification created in Step Two then our change management process kicks in and we modify and reprice the project.
Step Five - Presence
At the earliest possible opportunity we tackle the sometimes thorny issue of domain name management, domain transfer and configuration. Web hosting space is purchased and, where appropriate, training is given on the website control panel so that your email accounts can be used as soon as possible. If you have requested E^filter spam and virus filtering then this too may be commissioned on your behalf in Step Five.
Step Six - Design
Sub@omic has built it's reputation on delivering web design with 100% fidelity to original artwork and, in Step Six, Sub@omic designs and submits for approval a Photoshop (.jpg) mock-up of the proposed web page design.
Step Seven - Content
With a clear sense of the end user, a robust sitemap and an approved design in place we move you into what some clients have found to be the most complex part of the web design process; creting content (words & images) for the website. Only you know your business and sometimes Customers like to write their own content; we're happy to wait for you to write it but if you find yourself struggling with copy and content then we Sub@omic can step-in and help you with copywriting too. Once your copy has been created, we'll issue a secondary invoice for 30% of the project and, upon settlement, the project moves from it's design phase into the build phase.
Step Eight - Coding
Our websites are quick to load, standards compliant and easy to navigate. This inherent ability is based upon our coding competences which means taking the web design and using the best XHTML and CSS code available to replicate the web design with 100% fidelity.
Step Nine - Interacting
Dynamic web designs require us to develop web pages that are interactive; Step Nine is where we introduce PHP code into the web design which allows us to further develop the UX (user experience) of the website.
Step Ten - Database
Dynamic websites often, but not always, need to be powered by a database which allows Sub@omic to deploy websites that achieve economies of scale by storing and managing all website content in a MySQL database and connecting the database to the dynamic webpages. Typically, this means that huge websites can be deployed with just a handful of carefully written webpages.
Step Eleven - Building
With the main structure of the website in place, we then take your content and insert your words and your images into the web pages and/or database.
Step Twelve - Integration
If a website, such as an E^commerce website has any external dependancies on third party websites (Google/PayPal/Protx...) then Step Twelve addresses the punch-outs, punch-ins, data exports and data imports that turn a marketing website into an E^business platform.
Step Thirteen - Acceptance Testing
Central to our terms & conditions of business is the notion of 'Acceptance'. Acceptance testing is the step in the web design process where the website is tested to ensure that it performs against the proposed specification written and approved in Step Two.
Step Fourteen - Website Launch
Upon Acceptance we issue an invoice (normally 60%) for the balance of the project and, once settled and having made a go/no go desision, the website launch date is set and, where appropriate, handover training is offered.
Step Fifteen - Review
Sub@omic doesn't just design and develop your website and walk away. Sub@omic will continue to work alongside your business and help you continually evolve and improve the online asset we've just built together. See what our Customers have to say about our ongoing support! Once your website is launched and delivering its business objectives you'll want to be able to tweak it to ensure that it continues to perform. A key success factor in search engine optimisation is analysis of website weblogs and analytics reports in order to continually fine tune your search engine keywords and content so that your website search engine rankings continually improve.
